It’s easy to get stuck replaying the past or worrying about the future and miss the moment right in front of you.
I used to think success came from planning ahead or analysing what had already happened. Both matter, but I’ve learnt that the real impact happens when you fully engage with now.
Here’s what living in the present has taught me.
1. Clarity lives in the now
Dwelling on the past or fearing the future clouds your judgment. Focusing on the present helps you act on what truly matters.
2. You can’t lead if you’re not here
Your team needs your attention, not just your strategy. Being present means listening, supporting and celebrating as things happen.
3. Now is the only time to act
The past is a memory. The future is a possibility. The present is where progress happens.
Living in the present doesn’t mean ignoring the past or future. It means learning from one, planning for the other and showing up for today.
