Ali Aydan: Leading with Curiosity

How I Learned to Use “Leading with Curiosity” in Business 💡

👉 Curiosity isn’t just a personal trait. It’s a critical leadership strategy.

In fast-paced industries, having a fixed mindset can derail your team and limit growth. Leading with curiosity, adapting to new insights, and adjusting strategies is what differentiates a resilient leader from a reactive one.

Here are 3 ways I apply this in my leadership style:

➡️Ask Questions First, Make Decisions Second
Instead of rushing to conclusions, I always ask “What’s missing here?” This mindset ensures I gather as much information as possible before making strategic decisions. More questions lead to better insights.

➡️ View Change as a Strategy, Not a Setback
When the market shifts or the team encounters setbacks, I frame it as an opportunity to evolve. Instead of doubling down on a failing approach, I reassess and pivot quickly. This ability to adapt in real-time keeps us ahead.

➡️ Encourage the Team to Challenge My Thinking
Leadership isn’t about always having the final word. It’s about creating a space where diverse viewpoints can flourish. I regularly ask my team to critique my strategies and propose alternatives. This approach fuels innovation and strengthens trust.

But here’s the twist: How do you know when it’s time to adapt your strategy?

Ask yourself: “Am I leading for today’s needs or preparing for tomorrow’s reality?”

The answer to this question can shift the entire direction of your business.

Bottom line: Curiosity is the catalyst that keeps a leader adaptable and sharp. It’s the ability to pause, listen, and then transform insights into action.

Have you ever had to change your strategy to keep up with new developments? If so, how did it go?
