Ali Aydan: How Do You Keep Moving After a Mistake?

No one leads without missteps. And no matter how sharp your strategy, life doesn’t offer a rewind button.

But here’s what does make a difference: the ability to play your next move better.

These three lessons have helped me keep perspective and momentum through every challenge:

1. Acknowledge it, then move

Mistakes happen. That part is normal. What really stalls progress is regret. Letting go of the past frees you to make smarter, faster decisions moving forward.

2. Think just enough, then act

Reflection is useful. Obsessing isn’t. I’ve learned to pull the insight from each setback, then apply it without hesitation. Overanalysis kills the progress; speed of action wins.

3. Adjust your steps, not your purpose

One wrong turn doesn’t mean you’re on the wrong path. I stay focused on the goal, even if the route changes. Agility works best when it’s anchored in a clear vision.

Here’s something to consider
What’s weighing you down, the mistake itself, or the belief that you should’ve avoided it?

Seeing each decision as one part of a much bigger journey has changed how I lead. Even a misstep can set you up for something better.
