As leaders, it’s easy to get stuck replaying old decisions, analysing mistakes or wondering what we should’ve done differently. But here’s the truth: you can’t change how the story started, but you have full control over how it ends.
In business, it’s not about where you began. It’s about what you do next. Your future is built on the choices you make today.
Here are three shifts that helped me take back control of my direction:
1. Stop Waiting for Perfect
Perfect doesn’t exist. The longer you wait for the flawless plan, the more momentum you lose. Make the best decision with what you know now and keep moving. Progress is what matters.
2. Own the Present
Blaming past choices or outside factors is easy. But growth only happens when you take full responsibility for today. That mindset frees you to focus on what’s next.
3. See Failure as a Tool
Every mistake carries a lesson. The leaders I respect most aren’t the ones who avoided failure; they’re the ones who used it to get better.
Here’s something to think about: Maybe the goal isn’t to get everything right, but to look back and be proud of how you handled the journey.
You don’t need to rewrite your past. Just commit to shaping your future with intention.
